Where I Stand

A Social Security, Medicare and Health Care Protection Pledge

I____________________________pledge to the citizens of the State of Michigan that I will defend and strengthen Social Security and Medicare for the 21^st Century and will support a  comprehensive program of affordable health care for all.

I will oppose privatization of Social Security. I will oppose any action to reduce Social Security’s guaranteed benefits with private investment accounts. I will oppose diverting Social Security revenues to fund private accounts. And I will oppose reducing benefits or increasing the retirement age for Social Security.

I will oppose all efforts to reduce Medicare benefits.  

I will support improvements to the Medicare prescription drug program to make it affordable and comprehensive in coverage.
